Mount Kenya Trek
5 Days Sirimon/ Naromoru route

A spectacular walk up the beautiful Sirimon valley passing through a diverse range of vegetation and climate zones, from dense forest to tropical cactus plants to snow covered peaks.

Day 1: Mount Kenya region

Transfer from Nairobi to the slopes of Mount Kenya arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon nature walk through the forest reserve to Mau Mau caves. Dinner and overnight at a campsite.

Day 2- Old Moses

A short drive takes us to the park gate (2600 m). Acclimatization walk through the rain forest to Old Moses Camp (3400m) for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 - Shipton’s Camp

Via the Mackinder’s Valley we walk to the Shipton’s Camp. This walk will take us 5 to 8 hours. Animals are still with us though only represented by the rock hyrax. We should reach Shipton's Camp (4200 m) by early afternoon for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 - Point Lenana (4985 m)

After a light breakfast early in the morning, then set off for the ultimate of our trip, Point Lenana, which we hope to reach with sunrise. The view from here is truly rewarding as the whole of the area, including the complete Aberdare range and on a clear day the Kilimanjaro in the south can be overviewed. We then descend further down to Met Station (3050m) for overnight.
